The Men’s Senior Section at Bonymaen RFC is made up of two proud sides — Bonymaen 1sts and Bonymaen Athletic — both carrying the same passion, pride, and determination that define the club. Competing in the WRU Championship West and Division 4 West Central, our senior teams continue to build on Bonymaen’s strong rugby heritage, proudly representing the club, the community, and the red and black every time they take the field.
On the field, both teams have enjoyed outstanding success in recent years. Crowned Division 1 Champions and West Wales Cup winners in both 2014/15 and 2022/23, before earning promotion to the WRU Championship West in 2023/24. The club also proudly reached the WRU Plate Final in 2019, underlining a consistent record of success and excellence within Welsh community rugby. These achievements are a testament to the hard work, resilience, and team spirit that define the senior squads year after year.
A defining feature of rugby at Bonymaen is the deep sense of family that runs through the club. It’s not uncommon to see fathers and sons lining up together in the same team, continuing a proud multi-generational tradition and reflecting the strong community ties that have always been at the heart of Bonymaen RFC.
Many of our players have earned honours beyond club level, with individuals going on to achieve Wales representative caps, Barbarian selections, Wales Deaf Rugby World Cup victories, and many more accolades. These achievements highlight the quality of talent, commitment, and player development that continues to thrive within our senior section.
Off the field, life at Bonymaen is just as vibrant. The clubhouse socials are a key part of what makes our community special — from post-match celebrations and themed nights to annual dinners, charity fundraisers, and big match days, there’s always something happening “up the club.” These occasions bring together players, families, and supporters, reinforcing the close-knit bond that makes Bonymaen RFC more than just a rugby club.
Behind the scenes, the senior teams are supported by a dedicated group of coaches, managers, medical staff, and volunteers who work tirelessly to help players perform at their best. Their commitment ensures that Bonymaen RFC continues to thrive both on and off the pitch, with a shared focus on development, respect, and pride in the jersey.
